Should a 10 year old have a cell phone?

Answers:

If they want one they should think about it and then buy it. yes. no way Be sure to get it insured for loss and damage. I know 12 year olds that cannot keep a cell phone safe and secure. What possible reason could they have for needing one?

They dont drive. They are (or should be) with their parents most of the time, except when in school or at a friend%26#39;s house. They have a set cerfew by LAW, so they have to be indoors by a certain hour.

Also do you actually trust someone that young to fully appreciate the value of money enough that they would conservatively use a cell phone? I would say yes. Instead of an allowance, and just one of those simple kid phones with like 4 numbers you program in. It really depends on the circumstances, however in general I see no reason for a ten year old to have a cell phone. depends, could be a good ideal if the child has specific medical needs, needs to dial 911, or to reach the parents, otherwise I would say there is not another valid reason to give a child a cell phone. If they live in a situation where it could be used somewhat frequently then yes, but if all they do is go to school and the occasional friends house I would say no. you could use any old Verizon phone you have and activate it for $5 at uglyeric.com I%26#39;d say maybe depending on what issues matter to you most.

Pros :

1. You can easily get in to with he/she via the mobile.

2. You can set programs that work on your computer to track them so you know where they are at all times.
