Pay for WiFi use with smart phone?

I want to get a smart phone soon, and I%26#39;m seriously considering AT%26T%26#39;s 8525 in particular. One of the attractions is that it has WiFi. If I were to get this phone, would I need an (exhorbitantly priced) data plan? If I happen to be in a WiFi hotspot (i.e. my own living room), will I be able to surf the net for free? I want a gadget that does it all, but the data plans are just ridiculous. I%26#39;m around hotspots a lot.

Answers:

The at%26t 8525 does not require a data plan, but if you want to take advantage of browsing the internet in full html then you would have to get the "pda connect" wich is $39.99 per month. It is a bit expensive for data. If your home happends to have a wirless "wifi" network, then you can use that connection to surf the internet and will not be charged. Wifi is free to use in the at%26t 8525. My suggestion would be to hook up your home with a wirless network. You can have a "wifi" connection under $19.99 per month. no it is free the Nokia n95 is the best on the market at the mo, or you will be able to get a t- mobile tarriff with unlimmited internet use
