Try Virgin Mobile. They have some pretty good plans and they are a good entry level service. Kmart, Walmart and Target sell them and their top up cards. You can also purchase on line. Most gas stations and dollar stores sell their top up cards, too.

I can perhaps understand why there could be a need to borrow one to call to get a ride but that would be easy to do.
